August 29, 1962: Engine Company 3 used the 1957 FWD Special 1000 GPM pumper it had while at 12th Avenue Firehouse.
Truck Company 3 used used the aerial it had at the Godwin Ave location, a 1954 FWD Tractor (Serial # 8041) attached to a rebuilt 1931 Ahrens Fox Aerial (#2059).

September 3, 1982: Company Renumbering: (see order on Overview Page) Engine Company 3 relocates to the Lakeview Firehouse at 125 Trenton Avenue. Engine Company 10 (with its 1975 Hahn pumper) relocates from Madison Avenue to Riverside Firehouse.
There was no change in the numbering or location of Truck 3.
October 1982: Engine Company 10 receives a different yellow 1975 Hahn 1250 GPM pumper (Serial # HCP528127624) formerly used by Engine Companies 1 and 6.

December 3, 1984: Engine Company 10 is renamed Engine Company 5 at the Riverside Firehouse and switches to a 1979 American LaFrance 1250 GPM Telesquirt (55' retrofitted Water Tower) conversion (Serial # CE6620) painted white. Had a 300 gallon tank. It is shown below parked at the Madison Avenue Firehouse.

August 16, 1993, at 10:21 AM the 1975 Pirsch aerial that Ladder 3 was using ended its career (see photo below) when the tractor collapsed at Governor and East 16th Streets. Ladder 3 was on inspection when the box came in. EMS reported a working fire on Broadway. Steve Hatfield was the driver, Joe Murray, (the elder) was the captain & Lynn Tolbert was the tiller. Department Reorganization: 1990s - No changes at Riverside
1994: Ladder 3 was the first tractor that E-One (Spartan gladiator chassis) had built and then it was mated it to a Stuphen tiller (painted white). The tiller had been built previously for someone else and not used. To save time with the build it was purchased put together at E-One then shipped to Paterson. May 2004: Ladder 3 Stuphen failed ladder safety test. Since 2000, $46, 1340 has been expended in repairs: some paid by warranty and some by PFD. Truck in dire need of replacement.

August 25, 2021: An architect is working out demolition and reconstruction of Riverside Firehouse as ground contamination was found. Plans are for a hi tech new, non-traditional look. It will have 2 long bays and 3 short bays out the other side and everything will be second floor except watch room. Likely will include poles or slides.

November 9, 2022: ~4:00 PM E5, L3, R2, and B2 were dispatched to the overpass at Route 20 and Broadway. Ladder 3 Firefighters Firefighter Andrew Mingione hoisted via the raised aerial colleagues Lucas Zarate and Eddie Jimenez to rescue a troubled suicidal, teen jumper. April 2023: On January 9, 2022 Multiple calls were received shortly before 8:00 A.M. reporting a fire. First due Engine 5 & Ladder 3 arrived to find 113 Warren Street heavily involved in fire, extending to exposure structures, with a reported handicapped occupant trapped inside.
The companies immediately entered the structure to search and located the occupant, removed him safely out of the building to receive the emergency cared he needed. The actions involved saved the life of the occupant in a dangerous and rapidly evolving incident that resulted in damage to 4 houses.

July 31, 2023: Tour 1 out yesterday, using L3 spare aerial, preplanning some building in the first due bunker hill neighborhood. Crews familiarized themselves with some of the rooftop mounted cellular equipment and the hazards these installations pose to FF’s. November 9, 2023: E5 (Tour 3) receives an apparatus - the 2022 Ferrara pumper previously used by E2. This replaces the spare pumper they were using since the accident.
December 1. 2023: PFD will be receiving three new Ferrara Pumpers one of which will be assigned to Engine 5

May 6, 2024: A rare occurrence when entire Tour 2 crew of Ladder 3 were on duty together - L-R Captain Michael Hook, FF Steven Fatovic, FF Luis Sanchez, FF Kevin Behnke, FF Jonathan Hoedemaker, FF Nicholas Vandervoort, FF Ryan English. Of note - Vandervoort is the son of, retired DC Bruce Vandervoort, "Hoedy" is the son of retired DC Richard Hoedemaker, Luis Sanchez is the son of retired Passaic, NJ BC Luis Sanchez and Kevin is the son of retired Paterson BC Thomas Behnke. In the company, Ryan English is the senior man and Hoedy is junior guy.
June 20, 2024: Just before1930 hours, Riverside Tour 2 was dispatched to 656 20th Avenue on a possible structure fire. E3 arrived and found a fire on the second floor extending to the 3rd and called a working fire. L3 overhauled the 3rd floor, placed the aerial to the roof (using the spare rear mount) and vented the roof. E5 stretched an additional line. The fire was quickly brought under control.
