The legend in the photo below is an error. The depicted firehouse is that of Vigilant Engine Company 6 of the Volunteer department. It was located on the south side of Market street between Madison Straight Streets. In 1890 it became quarters of Engine 6 of paid department. Columbia Hose 1 was located on Mulberry Street
Photo below shows the 1821 Gooseneck apparatus of Neptune Engine Company 2 located in the 10 Hotel Street firehouse (later became Hamilton Sreet). In 1890 the firehouse became PFD headquarters and home of Engine 2 and then Chemical Company 1 and then Engine 11
