January 21, 1940: Captain Edward Cusack of Truck 1 was appointed in 1896. He retired in 1935. His son Edward A Cusack also served at PFD  (appointed in 1925) and two grandsons Ray M Cusack Sr (appointed 1956) and Edward Cusack (appointed in 1963) and a great grandson Ray M Cusack Jr (appointed 1983).

December 24, 1941: FF Leo Walsh,  a WWI veteran, appointed December 25, 1923 and served at Truck 3. He made the  Supreme Sacrifice   he fought a second alarm fire (during which there was heavy ladder use) at Bornstein Ribbon Mill on East 33rd Street on June 28, 1941. He became ill following the return to Godwin Avenue firehouse quarters and later found in the firehouse cellar with obvious signs of a severe stroke.  He was hospitalized, never discharged and died

November 23, 1951: Famous Patersonian Harold Dillistin (of lumbar yard fame) passes away. His lumbar yard was the site of many fires including two general alarms (one after his death). In his youth he served Paterson Volunteer department and was a member of Paterson Exempt Association.

September 19, 1952:  James McMullen, age 94 joined Volunteer department in 1881 (Lafayette Engine Company 8) and then was a call man at Engine 8 in 1890 partially-paid department and in 1895 a full time fireman. He retired in 1922. Was a president of the Exempt Firemen's Association and a Board Member at Boonton Home.  He fought and was injured (leg fracture) at the great 1902 conflagration.
