John McKiernan Born August 13, 1833 Died March 4, 1905. Joined Washington Engine Company 3 in 1852. Became Treasurer in 1855 and 1856 and Foreman in 1859. In 1862 he was Assistant Chief Engineer. Civil War veteran: enrolled September 1862 as a Captain in 25th Infantry (NJ Volunteers). Was a long-time president f Washington Engine 3 and the first president of the Paterson Exempt Firemen's Association in 1892. Brother of 1861 Chief James McKiernan

Patrick Sweeney Born February 1842 Died March 16, 1920 - Served at Jackson Engine Company 4 - Became the first Deputy Chief in the paid Paterson Department - In 1938 his son James made the Supreme Sacrifice at the Quackenbush warehouse fire
