RAC Unit runs with 2 firefighters and a Captain (if there is a shortage of Captains, the RAC Captain will fill in for that shortage). One of the firefighters on the RAC is also a fire investigator. The RAC will respond to any report of a any type of fire (i.e. car fire, rubbish fire, structure), a confirmed fire and any incident where rehab and accountability might be needed such as haz-mat, body recovery, extended incidents where personal are operating when it’s very cold or hot out.

Ambulance 97 rides out of headquarters. The command unit is Field Communications which is assigned to 3rd alarms and greater but can be mobilized for any incident on the authority of the incident commander. It has a communications area, a meeting room with strategy boards and a telescoping camera that also has thermal imaging capabilities.
The air unit, or cascade truck also carries the accountability officer and rehab supplies (water, gatorade, towels, etc.). It is assigned to all working fires or any incident where the incident commander deems necessary. It also responds to incidents any municipality in Passaic County at the request of that entity for the purpose of filling SCBA cylinders.

April 11, 2022: First run for new RAC Unit @22:32 Hrs - B3, B2, E4, E5, E2, E1, L2, L3, R2, RAC (2232) Incident # 11,070 3 Arch St KAJ Inc. (Junk Yard). This was an overheated Tesla Battery that was removed from the vehicle several months ago. PFD cooled the Battery for approx. 45 minutes and the owner placed the Battery in the center of the yard (no exposures). The battery maintained ambient temperature after it was cooled.

August 3, 2022: @1735 Hrs the new Ferrara pumper went in service at Engine 7 at McBride Ave quarters. First crew: L-R: FF/EMT Kathy Sledge, FF/EMT Chris Dance, Capt. William Macdonald, FF/EMT Malik Moody, FF/CFI Tyrone Johnson, FF/EMT Marco Pelosi. The first run was on 8/3/22 at 2209 Hrs. Incident # 22-023904 to 446 E19 Street for what turned out to be an AFA alarm malfunction.
