CHRONOLOGICAL LISTING OF MAJOR FIRES

Second Alarm or Higher or Notable

In 1987 the department started a new way of assigning numbers to fires; All incidents (meaning an Engine, Ladder or Rescue Company response) were numbered consecutively. The last two numbers of the year (i.e., 87 for 1987) would be followed by the PFD response number. For instance the fourteenth response of the year 1987 would be incident  # 870014

From FF Alex Creddio: "Photo at left is what was showing when we pulled up. As BC John Mauro and I were checking the situation out -- We were getting ready for an interior attack. As lines were being stretched Truck 1 took out the front windows and we were met with a fireball rolling at us from the rear of the building. Also another box was transmitted and units passed this fire responding to that box."
