3 Story Wood Frame Construction Duplex with fire on the third floor and through the roof with extension to the Bravo Exposure. Second Alarm on arrival. Light and air shaft caused fire drop down to the 2nd and 1st floors. Due to the heavy fire conditions operations were switched to a defensive attack. Multiple large caliber master streams and aerial streams were put into operation. All visible fire knocked down. Only exterior damage to exposure buildings.

September 8, 2023: As part of an archeological investigation water was diverted from the Passaic Falls thru the hydroelectric plant and with the help of PFD Rescue, exploration occurred. Research was done by the NPS Submerged Resources Team and Delaware Water Gap Dive Team. Cleanup above the falls was also performed.
September 20, 2023:Incident # 23-031340 2nd alarm at 50 Madison Avenue dwelling with fire extension and visible victims trapped on 3rd floor windows,
2.5 story wood frame Occupied, visible fire on arrival, and victims trapped on 3rd floor windows. Ladder 3 raised 28' ground ladder to remove 3 occupants from 3rd floor window (1 male adult, 1 female adult, 1 semiconscious infant) turned over to EMS 5. R-2 and E4 removed 1 occupant from 3rd floor via interior stairs turned over to EMS 3. 17 Occupants displaced relocated by RED CROSS
September 23, 2023: Rescue 1 along with the entire USAR Metro Strike Team was requested into West Milford for a building explosion with 6 people trapped. Prior to USAR arrival, the West Milford fire department removed 5 victims. The last victim was heavily entrapped approximately 10’ into the structure. Paterson Rescue 1 was the first USAR Rescue on scene and started shoring and tunneling toward the victim. Crews were quickly assisted by other arriving USAR units. Numerous battery tools were used to gain access to the victim. USAR units utilized airbags, A 50-ton bottle jack and Paratech Hydrarams to then lift the structure off the victim and remove them from the structure. The victim was successfully removed an hour after our arrival and transported via helicopter to the hospital. Fantastic work by all companies that operated on scene. October 12, 2023: 77 Madison Avenue Incident # 23-033881 1st alarm assignment 10/12/2023 @ 0033 Hrs Engines 5, 1, 4, 3 Ladders 3 and 1 Rescue 2, RAC Unit Battalions 2 and 3 T/C Deputy 2 On location found heavy smoke and fire on the 1st floor of a 2.5 story wood frame dwelling. Engine 5 established primary water supply and stretched primary 1 3/4" attack line. Engine 1 deployed 1 3/4"backup line. Engine 4 established secondary water supply and stretched 1 3/4" line to second floor. Ladder 3 and Ladder 1 to open up. Rescue 2 conducted primary searches of all floors and controlled utilities in basement. Engine 3 as RIT Team. Battalion 3 as Safety Officer. All searches were conducted and were negative. EMS 5 and EMS 1 transported two victims to SJP with burns/smoke inhalation. Deputy 2 on scene to assume command. RAC Unit conducted PARS and investigation. PSEG on scene to control utilities to house. Paterson PD on scene requested Red Cross to relocate 8 occupants.

Fire extinguished, electric and gas shut off at street by PSE&G, investigations complete. 1 Captain suffered a leg injury during operations and was transported to St Joe's Paterson. PD 101 assisted with street and crowd control and assisted with Red Cross- 6 tenants displaced.

Single alarm fire in the basement of a 2.5 wood frame mixed use residential over commercial occupied structure contained to the electrical panel. Fire in the electrical panel was controlled and contained, PSE & G on scene pulled the meter. No extension beyond the electrical panel. No injuries reported or sustained.

December 2, 2023: 12:02 PM - Abandoned St. Mary's School on 96 Sherman Avenue working fire. Tour 1. With other companies at a Main Street fire, E5, E1 and # and L3 were dispatched. E5 and L3 arrived first and found heavy fire on second floor of the abandoned school. A 2.5-inch line was stretched. Ultimately other units joined, and it took ~ 2 hours to control the fire.

December 21, 2023: 2nd alarm at 423 East 18th Street Incident # 23-042020 1st alarm assignment 12/21/2023 @ 1049 Engines 1,3,4, Squad 6 Ladders 1,3 Rescue 2, RAC Unit Battalions 2,3 T/C Deputy 1 2nd Alarm 12/23/2023 @ 1058 Engines 5,7
Working Fire - 3 story occupied Type 5 Mixed Use, 2 residential over 1 commercial building with a large volume of fire on the 3rd floor "C" side of the structure. Engine 3 advanced a 1.75 inch attack line to the 3rd floor. Ladder 3 started Primary search of 3rd floor. An adult male was seen by B/C Gander run into the building. B/C Gander went after the male and the top of the 2nd floor landing asked the man to exit the building. He then advised B/C Gander that there was a child in the "Bravo side" apartment. B/C Gander then asked the man where was the child? He responded "in the bedroom". Batt 2 (B/C Gander) then assigned the Capt. of Ladder 3 (Capt. L. Perez) and (F/F E. Beagin) to locate the child. At this time there was a heavy smoke condition on the 2nd floor more than halfway down from the ceiling. B/C Gander told the man he had to go and that the Firefighters will get the child. B/C Gander removed the man from the building. Capt. Perez and F/F Beagin located the child in the bedroom responsive. They wrapped the child in a blanket and removed the child from the building handing off to the man that B/C Gander removed from the building. At this time the "Bravo" exposure started to burn. B/C Gander immediately called for a 2nd alarm. Rescue 2 to Primary search of exposure "B" and Squad 6 to advance a line into the building to extinguish all visible fire. Engine 1 was assigned to a 2.5 inch attack line between the main fire building and exposure "B". Engine 5 from the "C" side of the building obtained its own water supply and knocked down all visible fire with the deck gun and a 2.5 inch attack line. Engine 7 was the RIT. Ladder 1 was able to take the roof and topside vented. Primary and secondary searches of the Bravo exposure proved negative throughout. Additional primary and secondary search of main fire building proved negative throughout. Fire was placed under control. Investigation was completed by F/F Dean. 1 female occupant was treated and transported to SJH with difficulty breathing (non-life threatening). A total of 10 occupants were displaced (6 adults 4 children). All were assisted by PD and Red Cross on scene. Gas and electric were shut down at the street by PS gas and electric. Passaic Valley water was notified to shut down the water at the street. Marshal 5 was on scene for the imminent hazard. Building owner was on scene and the building was turned over to him. Command was terminated.
From the Draw_532: Just before 11am this morning, Riverside was alerted to a possible fire at 423 East18th Street. Units arrived to find heavy fire from the rear of a 3-story type V with an exposure issue on the D side. Tour 1 L3 was first due truck and E3 was the first due engine as E5 was returning from another assignment. Searches were conducted and one occupant was removed by L3. E5 set up in a parking lot on the C side upon their arrival. A 2nd alarm was transmitted and the fire was brought under control in under an hour.

December 23, 2023: 2nd Alarm 1033 East 19th Street Incident # 23-042276 1st alarm assignment 12/23/2023 @ 1252 Engines 1,3,5, Squad 6 Ladders 1,3 Rescue 2, RAC Unit Battalions 2,3 T/C Deputy 3 2nd Alarm 12/23/2023 @ 1336 Engines 4,7 Working Fire – 2 ½ story, Type 5 w/Fire showing Attic and Div. 2 w/extension to B-Exposure (3 ½ story Type 5). (1) Exposure line to A/B and (3) Attack lines to Div 2 and Attic stretched and in operation. Roof vented and primary searches negative, Bravo Exp. checked and no extension to interior of structure found. (1) additional engine called for manpower, 2nd Alarm called due to pump failure of E-1. Supply of attack lines transitioned from E1 to S6 which provided (2) 2 ½ supply lines w/gated wye’s to the front of the structure. Fire extinguished, secondary searches – negative, RAC conducted C&O Invest. PD and Red Cross on scene to re-locate 5 tenants, PS shut gas and elec. at the street. Homeowner on scene, Command terminated.
February 1, 2024: 515 Broadway - Incident # 24-003696 - 1st alarm assignment 01/01/2024 @ 1343 HRs. Engines 5, 1, 3, 4, Ladders 1, 3, RAC Unit, Battalions 3, 2, T/C Deputy 3 2nd Alarm 02/01/2024 @ 1407 Hrs Squad 6, E-7. Rescue 2 canceled in route @ 1604 previously assigned to another box at Lambert Castle. 2.5 story Type 5 wood frame structure with smoke showing from the 1st floor A side of the structure. Working fire was transmitted, companies secured primary and secondary water supplies and stretched attack lines into the basement to LCE all visible fire. Additional attack lines were stretched to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors to LCE any fire extension into the upper floors. A 2nd Alarm was transmitted due to fire extension throughout the structure. Companies conducted pre and post control overhaul throughout utilizing TIC. Companies conducted primary and secondary searches throughout with negative results. PSEG secured gas and electric entering the structure. Ladder 3 raised the aerial ladder to the roof and established multiple vertical ventilation holes. The way the roster worked out that day between someone having the day off and another guy calling out sick, two L1 members were detailed to E1 for the first 12 hours of the shift. So, the nozzle man and hydrant man were both L1 members.

February 28, 2024: 588 River Street 10:30 Second Alarm Utility pole spread to dwelling
Incident # 24-006833 1st alarm assignment @ 2220 Engines 5,4,1,2 and Ladders 3,2, Rescue 2, RAC Unit with Battalions 2, 3 and D1 dispatched to a reported pole fire and found wires arcing from pole # 67735 and fire showing from the A/D corner roof area of a 4 -story wood frame residential over commercial structure. Working Fire was transmitted by B2 I/C. Engine 5 established a primary water supply and operated a 2.5" hose line on the exterior of the structure. Ladder 3 forced entry and performed primary searches with negative results throughout. Engine 1 stretched a 1 3/4 " hose line to the attic to extinguish all visible fire. Engine 4 Stretched a 1 3/4" hose line to the 3rd floor to extinguish all visible fire. Engine 2 was RIT (Rapid Intervention Team).
Deputy 1 (TC) arrived on scene and transmitted a 2nd alarm. 2nd Alarm @ 2245 Hrs. Engine 3, and 7 responded. PSE&G arrived on scene and secured utilities to the structure. Paterson Police Unit 102 was on scene. Red Cross coordinated with Paterson Police for 4 displaced occupants. Building was turned over to owner on scene.

February 29, 2024: 69 Mercer Street - abandoned home with fatality
Incident # 24-006850 1st alarm assignment @ 0236 hrs: Engines 5,4,1,2 with Ladders 3,2 Rescue 2, and RAC Unit, Battalions 2,3 T/C Deputy 1.
Companies responded to a working fire in a 2.5 wood frame, B2 established command, B3 assigned as safety officer and interior operations. Members advanced interior hose lines to division 2 and attic division 3 with heavy fire conditions consuming the A side hallway, division 2 front room and the attic.
2nd Alarm @ 0303 hrs. Engine 3 and Squad 6 responded. Members pre overhauled division 2 and exposed heavy fire conditions on the C side. Primary searches performed on all floors with positive results of a DOA on division 3. Members operated several interior hose lines and an exposure line for complete extinguishment. All members accounted for and no injuries report on scene.
March 30, 2024: Incident # 24-010238 114 Cliff Street
Battalion 3 found working fire of a 3-story type 5 caused by a motor vehicle that crashed into the house on the exterior, rupturing the gas feed at the meter and damaging the electrical service drop. This created a gas fed fire on the exterior which extended into the car and structure. 2nd alarm transmitted. Companies stretched lines to the exterior to prevent further extension, and into the 1st and 2nd floor to confine and extinguish all fire. PSEG gas and electric called to the scene to secure utilities in the street. Primary and Secondary searches negative. Overhaul and salvage conducted throughout. All members rotated through rehab and multiple PARs conducted for accountability. Companies picked up, building secured. 10 displaced occupants relocated by Red Cross through PD.

Battalion 2 found a working fire in a 3-story wood frame occupied residential structure, with fire showing on the second and third floor extending into the third floor of the "Delta," exposure, which was also a 3-story wood frame occupied residential structure. A second alarm was transmitted. Engine 1 established a primary water supply and stretched an attack line into the main fire building. Engine 5 stretched a backup line into the main fire building. Engine 3 established a secondary water supply and stretched a 2 1/2" hose line to the "Charlie," side of the main fire building. Ladder 1, Ladder 3 and Rescue 2 conducted primary searches and horizontal ventilation of the main fire building and "Delta," exposure with negative results. Squad 6 was RIT. Companies operated in an offensive mode then were evacuated and operated in a defensive mode. Ladder 1 and Ladder 3 operated master streams on both structures. Companies then re-entered the structures to complete extinguishment and conduct overhaul. Exposure D1 (786 E18th St.) sustained major water damage. RAC on scene for cause and origin. Red Cross on scene for 42 displaced occupants. PSE&G on scene to secure gas and electric to all 3 structures. Passaic Valley Water on scene to secure water to all 3 structures.
June 20, 2024: Just before1930 hours, Riverside Tour 2 was dispatched to 656 20th Avenue on a possible structure fire. E3 arrived and found a fire on the second floor extending to the 3rd and called a working fire. L3 overhauled the 3rd floor, placed the aerial to the roof (using the spare rear mount) and vented the roof. E5 stretched an additional line. The fire was quickly brought under control.

June 20, 2024: 454 Ellison Street Incident # 24-20107 1st Alarm assignment @ 0136 Hours Engines 1, 5, 4 Squad 6 Ladders 1, 3 Rescue 2, RAC Unit Battalions 3, and 1 TC Deputy 2
2nd Alarm @ 0151 hours Engines 7, and 3 Responded to a reported fire with possible entrapment, O/S established command with heavy fire conditions consuming division 2 and 3 on the C-side of the main fire building, a second alarm requested by E1 upon arrival. The main fire building is a vacant 3 story type 5 construction with plywood covering on all windows and doors on division 1. D exposure is an occupied 2.5 story type 5 with a heat signature on the B side exterior, from venting fire. E1, E5 and E4 established 2 primary water supplies to E1 and advanced 2.5 hose to the D exposure and an additional 2.5 to the C side for initial operations on the exterior. L3 and E4 advanced 1-3/4 handline into the main fire building to conduct a primary search and reported negative results of entrapment. B1 reported for interior command / safety officer and reported heavy fire consuming all floors including the basement. B3 ordered evacuation of the main fire building and switched to defensive mode, with a PAR conducted. The B and D exposures were evacuated and searched for extension with negative results. 1 ladder pipe, 1 deck gun and multiple 2.5 handlines were operational until the main fire was knocked down. R2 and SQ6 operated a 2.5 on the C side of the main fire building along with E3 operating a 1-3/4 from the attic window of the B exposure. All companies rotated through rehab with 1 FF injury reported and transported to SJP. Primary and secondary searches negative, with the utilities already shut off and tagged out by PSEG prior to the incident. The fire placed under control by D2.
2nd Alarm @ 1818 Hrs for man power Engines 4 and 2 On arrival visible fire on top floor of a type 3 multiple dwelling around window sill. Building partially evacuated upon arrival. PD 108 on scene. E-1 primary attack line, E-3 assisted E-5 with obtaining a primary water supply and back-up line. Squad 6 assisted with tenant evacuation. Ladder 1 primary search, located fire and overhauled. Rescue 2 checked rear of building. Ladder 1 located fire in apartment 1C division 3. Called for a 2nd alarm for man power and to fill RIC (Rapid Intervention Crew) team. Ladder 3 checked for extension in cockloft and roof- no extension found and conducted a secondary search which was negative. E-4 assigned the RIC team. Battalion 1 interior operations command. Engine 2 staged. All fire knocked down, overhauled and area vented.

Shortly after 18:00 on 6/24/24 Tour 3 personnel from E1, L1, EMS1 and Car 9 (EMS Captain) were dispatched on the initial assignment to a reported structure fire at 309 Park Ave. Upon arrival on scene E1 reported smoke showing from a large 3 story ordinary mixed occupancy with businesses on the 1st floor and apartments on the 2nd and 3rd floors. E1 transmitted a working fire, stretched the initial attack hose line and established a primary water supply. L1 assisted E1 with locating, confining and extinguishing the fire as well as searches and overhaul. BC2 assumed command a short time later and requested a 2nd alarm. The fire was placed under control in less than 30 minutes. Job well done by the Tour 3 personnel that operated on scene who made quick work of a fire in a potentially problematic building with severe exposure issues.
August 13, 2024??: 30 4th Ave 2nd alarm - Crews arrived to find smoke showing and a deep- seated fire in a recycling facility. A second alarm was ultimately transmitted for manpower due to the heat and hard to access fire.
2nd Alarm @ 15:30 for man-power only. Squad 6 and Engine 3.
Companies responded and found a Large Transfer facility with a 20x20x8 large pile of garbage on fire. The sprinklers were in operation upon arrival and held the fire in place. The railroad nearby was shut down due to companies operating on both sides of the tracks. Engine 5 and Engine 4 to advance a 2.5" hose line to the seat of the fire. Assigned ladder 3 and Ladder 2 to overhaul and open up where pockets of fire were seated. Assigned Rescue 2 to force entry through rear door on C side. Engine 1 assigned to RIT. Battalion 3 assigned to Safety Officer. Once main body of fire was knocked down utilized the excavator on site to overhaul seated fire. Fire placed under control and companies began DECON. All companies rehab. Investigation completed by on duty investigator.
September 17, 2024: 325 Getty Avenue Incident # 24-031204 1st alarm assignment @ 15:41 Squad 6, Engines 1, 3, 7 Ladders 1, 2 Rescue 2, RAC Unit Battalions 1 and 2 with T/C Deputy 3 2nd Alarm 10/23/2023 @ 15:50 manpower only. Engines 5 and 2.
Companies responded to 325 Getty Ave. on a reported structure fire. Battalion 1 O/S reported a working fire in the rear of the structure and ordered Squad 6 to position on George St. Squad 6 secured a primary water supply and stretched an 1.75" attack line through the rear yard of 323 Getty Ave. and began to knock down all visible fire. Squad 6 utilized the apparatus deck gun to further knock down all visible fire. A civilian advised Squad 6 of 2 occupants in the fire building on the 2nd floor "B" side. Squad 6 began to position a 24' ground ladder when the occupant's self-evacuated from a 2nd floor window and slid down the exterior walls between the buildings landing on top of 2 members of Rescue 2 causing injuries. Co. Member continued to the D Exposure and conducted a primary search with negative results, while conducting the search fire was located in a 3rd floor bedroom. Members stretched a 1 3/4 hose line from Engine 1 and extinguished all visible fire. All Companies rehabbed, overhauled the stairway on the C side of the main fire building, helped pick up and was returned by Battalion 1. PD assisted 7 Displaced occupants.

September 20, 2024: 71 North 7th Street Third Alarm Fatalities
Incident # 24-031493 1st alarm assignment 09/20/2024 @ 0232 Engines 4, 2, 5, 7 Ladders 2 and 3 Rescue 2, RAC Unit Battalions 3 and 2 T/C Deputy CAR 3 2nd Alarm 09/20/2024 @ 0234 Squad 6, and E-1 3rd Alarm 09/20/2024 @ 0258 L-1 and E-3
Companies responded to a working fire in a residential 2.5 wood-frame occupied, upon arrival a heavy fire condition was visible and venting from division 1 with direct fire impingement on the B and D exposures. A heavy smoke condition was venting from all windows on division 2 with bystanders reporting 2 people trapped on division 2 of the main fire building. A second alarm was immediately transmitted and exposure protection setup from E2 and E5 using 2.5 handlines. E4 and L2 forced the main entry on the A side and conducted a primary search using a 1 3/4 handline in the hallway and stairway. At this time, heavy fire consumed division 2 with a flashover. All companies were ordered out of the main fire building and L3 officer reported a 1045 located at the base of the stairs on division 1.
A 1 3/4 was ordered into the B and D exposures as the fire extended into the structures. L2 conducted a search of the main fire building using a TIC and a ground ladder to search for the reported victim with negative results. L2 proceeded to the C side of the exposure building and found a woman and her dog trapped in the rear yard. L2 along with E5, used the 2.5 water stream to protect the victim and fire fighters as they performed a rescue through the alley way heavily involved in fire.
3 water supplies were established, multiple handlines and 1 ladder pipe were operational. The main fire building sustained a collapse of the Attic and C side wall. Secondary searches were conducted to locate a second 1045 on division 2. Scene was held for several days, Crews assisted in a recovery on the second floor and assisted the Medical Examiner. Recovery of 2 victims successfully completed secondary searches completed in basement, 1st floor and front of second floor due to rear of second floor collapse. Conducted PAR, rehabbed crew, and debriefed to nature of recovery.
October 23, 2024: Building collapse at 47 Ryle Avenue Incident # 24-035668 1st alarm assignment 10/22/2024 @ 23:52 Squad 6, Engines 4, 5, 2 Ladders 3 and 2 Rescue 2, RAC Unit Battalions 3 and 1 T/C Deputy 3
Companies responded to a possible building collapse and requested dispatch to have Squad 6 respond in Rescue 1. Chief on scene advised a confirmed building collapse. Rescue 2 notified Union County dispatch on USAR 7 that there is a building collapse in our city and currently will hold it as a one-unit response to investigate further. Arrived on scene and conducted a site safety survey. The structure was a 3-story type 4 mill, the Bravo side (Ryle Ave) and was still standing. Located a collapse of a 1 story section of the Alpha side (Ryle Road) approximately 100’ x 100’. Possible live wires on the ground and could not enter the area. PSE&G arrived and confirmed power lines are not involved and the building does not have electrical service. An attempted to conduct a reconnaissance and 360 of the collapsed structure, at first could only view the Alpha side and Bravo side. R-2 gain access through the fence on the Alpha side, the delta side had a dog and was impassable for safety. Alpha side had a 1 story drop on other side of the fence and was unpassable. PD and animal control were requested to the scene to gain access to the Delta side of the structure. Started to stage equipment on the Alpha side and had Squad gear up and stage as a RIC team for Rescue 2. Requested more lighting to assess the scene. PD arrived and rear of building was fortified and barricaded. Companies had more forcible entry tools brought to the Delta side to gain access to the Delta side for PD to clear the area. PD located a pit-bull in the woods and cleared access through homeless in tent encampment. Completed 360 of the Delta side of the structure and the Charlie side. Homeless persons in tents on the delta side of the structure stated that no one lives inside of the building that collapsed. Rescue 2 started to make entry to safe area of the structure from the Delta side. Numerous sections of roofing with large diameter truss and partial collapse of roof sheathing near the Carlie side. Completed the reconnaissance and 360, Thermal Imaging Cameras were used when searching. Located areas of lean-to collapse with voids as well as pancaked sections of roofing on the floor. Conducted a search on the top of the debris pile, no surface victims found. Called out for victims and ordered times of silence on scene to listen for victims calling out and/or tapping/scratching noises. Located numerous safety hazards overhead with remaining ceiling beams, roofing sheathing, and leaning columns. Recommended that additional assistance is needed and a search dog and drone. Rescue 2 started to conduct search with the search cam, hand tools, saws, and lights. Squad 6 staged as a backup team by the tool cash on Alpha side. Rescue 2 searched approximately 15 voids on the alpha side along the front wall on Ryle Road with no victims found. Rescue 2 went to the Delta side and advanced into the debris pile to search approximately 23 voids as they worked from the delta side to the alpha side with no victims found. Rescue 2 relocated to the Alpha bravo side and searched approximately 8 more voids with no victims found. Requested RAC Unit to the scene for rehab. Rescue 2 re-entered the debris pile and started select debris removal with hand tools to check under sections of roofing materials with nothing found on the Alpha, bravo or delta side. Special Ops Chief arrived and reviewed strategy and tactics. Rescue 2 started to cut inspection holes to ensure all voids were checked thoroughly with nothing found. Tunneling was not necessary as voids were all visible with inspection holes and search cam. Primary searches and secondary searches completed with no signs of victims. Had all companies exit the debris pile, conducted PAR and rehab. Returned all equipment, gear, and tools to the apparatus. Command terminated.

2nd Alarm assignment 11/10/2024 @ 03:45 Engine 4 and 7 Companies responded to a working fire. On scene found a Type V 3 Story Vacant (board-up) w/smoke and fire issuing from Alpha side on Div. 1 & 2, a water supply secured from 21st Ave. / East 20th and committed down East 20th in a defensive position. Company stretched two , 2-1/2 lines for exposure protection on the bravo and delta sides. Company remained in a defensive position and fed and supply line to Ladder companies aerial. Company ordered to REHAB then relieved E4 in the rear of the main fire building, working on an exposure line. At this point we witnessed the roof collapse from mid structure to C side. Notified the IC via radio. IC immediately transmitted message to maintain collapse zones on the defense posture and about 30 seconds after the building suffered a global collapse. PAR conducted w/all Co's. Co conducted primary searches of B&D exposures w/negative findings throughout. Assisted family members in the Delta exposure building to retrieve necessities. Companies relieved at the scene by T2 personnel.

11/22/2024: McBride & Wayne Avenue Incident # 24-038483 1st alarm assignment 11/22/2024 @ 10:55 Engines 7, 2, 4 and Squad 6 with Ladders 2 and 3 Rescue 2, RAC Unit Battalions 3 with T/C Deputy Car 2
Companies responded to a report of a jumper at Paterson Great Falls National Park. In route dispatch updated it was confirmed that a jumper is now visible in the water by witnesses on scene. Rescue arrived at Ryle Road to access the valley of the rocks at the base of the falls. Rescue 2 crew with EMS 6 brought the inflatable RDC (Rapid Deployment Craft), paddles, rope bags, as well as a helmet for the patient, a life vest for the patient, and numerous wool blankets. A recon for the location of the patient conducted and confirmed. Rescue 2 crew inflated and launched the RDC with patient safety equipment. Attempted to paddle up stream of the falls however due to the strong flow, rescuers needed to enter the water and swim upstream, around boulders and rapids, foot entanglements, and under tows to reach the patient. Crew made patient contact, assessed patient for injuries, minor contusions on back, calmed patient down, patient stated he couldn't move, and assessment reveled he was hypothermic. Crew used throw bag and ropes to tow the RDC upstream to rescuer and patient. Rescuer placed helmet and life vest on patient, relocated the patient onto the RDC and covered the patient with blankets due to hypothermia. Rescuers paddled downstream and out of the base of the falls back to shore and transferred patient care to St. Joe's Medics and Paterson EMS 5. Company returned all equipment to apparatus and decontaminated the gear and equipment. Command terminated.
December 15, 2024: Incident # 24-042043 61 North Main Street 1st alarm assignment 12/15/2024 @ 1339 Engines 4, 2, 7, 1 Ladders 2 and 1, Rescue 2, RAC Unit - Battalions 1 and 2 and T/C Deputy 1
While E-4 en route to an AFA on Wood Street, Engine 4 saw heavy black smoke from the chimney of a 1 story ordinary abandoned structure. Notified dispatch of the working FIRE and established command. Companies established a primary water supply and advanced 2 hose lines into the basement and extinguished the fire. A third line was advanced on the first floor to check for extension. Fire was confined to the area of origin in the basement. Primary and secondary searches were performed and negative. First floor windows and roof were ventilated by Ladder 2. Engine 2 was the RIC and Battalion 2 was operations. All areas were overhauled and checked with the thermal imaging camera for extension which was negative. Owner of the building on scene. PD unit 110 on scene. DPW assisted with re-securing the building.
Additional report from PFA At 1340 hours PFD Engine 4 Tour 1 was in route to an alarm activation when they noticed dark smoke visible from a chimney in the Arch St/N. Main area of the Northside and called into Paterson Dispatch they were redirecting to investigate. Upon arrival they found a working fire and heavy smoke condition in an unoccupied boarded up Paterson Public Library building at 61 North Main St. They called in the working fire, filled out the box assignment and went to work. Engine 4, Engine 5, Engine 2, Engine 7, Ladder 2, Ladder 3, Battalion 1, Battalion 2, RAC 1, Fire Investigator 1, Car 9, and Deputy 1 responded. The seat of the fire was found in the basement of the high-ceiling, one-story ordinary construction building. All searches were negative, and the fire was knocked down without incident.

December 19, 2024: 71 Dixon Avenue working fire - Incident # 24-042511 1st alarm assignment 12/19/2024 @ 1137 Engines 7, 4, 5 Squad 6, Ladders 2 and 1, Rescue 2, RAC Unit, Battalions 3 and 1 with T/C Deputy 1.
CAR 2 on scene to find a 1 story home on fire. Companies wrapped a hydrant on the corner of Nagle and Dixon Avenue using 250' of large diameter hose (LDH) that was charged by Engine 5. E7 advanced and deployed 200' of 1 3/4" hose line to the front of the building, company knockdown all visible fire on the front Porch and the bedroom on the A/B side. Multiple 1 3/4 lines into the building to extinguish fire on the first floor. Companies pulled 1 dog from first floor and two dogs from basement that were handed off to EMS to be treated for smoke inhalation. Companies salvaged and overhauled searching for and extinguishing all hot spots and extension. Fire was brought under control. PSEG on scene and shut down gas and electric to building. Owner was on scene and advised. Two tenants were displaced and staying with family.
