In 1987 the department started a new way of assigning numbers to fires; All incidents (meaning an Engine, Ladder or Rescue Company response) are numbered consecutively. The last two numbers of the year (i.e., 95 for 1995) would be followed by the PFD response number. For instance the second response for the year 1995 would be incident # 950002

Michael D'Arco oral history - 1155hrs. E6 Box to Pennsylvania and Alabama Aves. On scene found a 1 story commercial (adhesive can manufacturer) fully involved with extension into a 2 story brick commercial, a 2 1/2 story apartment building, with flaming adhesive cans being projected in all directions. 2 buildings across the street and several vehicles in front were also being exposed. Took hydrant and used deck gun to hit heavy fire. Also stretched 2 2 1/2’s and a booster line for the vehicle fires.

Called for line but was forced out. Defensive operations, used ladder pipe on all visible fire. After knocked reentered and worked with E1 in extinguishing and overhauling. Performed secondary searches and opened up walls and ceilings to expose fire for the engine companies. Overhauled. Note: Several rescues made by 1st arriving companies. 1 fatality.
